United Gold—During November, under the leasing system, this company shipped 2500 tons from dump and mine, the average value being given at $30 per ton. Twenty sets of leasers are employed on the various mines of the company, viz.: Wild Horse, Damon, Deadwood, Trail, W. P. H., Montrose, Midway and Trachyte.
A dividend amounting to $40,000 will be paid Dec. 20.

Annual Review.
Transfers of Property.
During the year some important transfers of property have been made. The most important is the sale of the claims of the United Gold Mines Co., of the Woods Investment Co., to the Golden Cycle Mining Co.
The purchase price was in the neighborhood of $350,000. The claims include the;

One of the largest deals consummated in the Cripple Creek district, Colorado, for some time was the recent sale of 400 acres of land on Battle mountain and Bull hill to the Golden Cycle Mining Company. The Woods Investment Company sold the property for $350,000.
The area includes the W. P. H., Wild Horse, Deadwood and other well known claims.

TRACHYTE MINE.
The Trachyte mine, on the claim of the same name, lies 500 feet southeast of the Deadwood, is also the property of the New Zealand Mining Company. It is explored by a shaft 400 feet deep and four levels, representing a total development of 2,500 to 3,000 feet. The elevation of the collar is 10,462 feet. The country rock is latite-phonolite, oxidized in places. The basalt dike from Deadwood No. 2 passes not far west of the shaft.
Owing to accumulation of ice in the shaft below level 1, only that level was entered. A crosscut 120 feet to the north discloses a vein with a trend slightly south of east, and dipping about 65° N. It has been stoped from close to the surface down to at least level 2, for a distance of 200 to 300 feet along the vein. The character of the vein matter could not be seen.

Trachyte.—It is reported that lessees operating in the 200-foot level of the Trachyte on Bull hill have opened up a streak of sylvanite ore of exceedingly high values and from two to three inches in width.
The Trachyte belongs to the United Gold Mines Company.

Colorado Springs, Aug. 10, 1904. The United Gold Mines Company, which recently resumed operations on the Trachyte claim of the Deadwood Company, is pushing work on the old White vein with a good-sized force of men. The number will very likely be increased considerably in the near future.
Work was commenced at the 400-foot level about 400 feet southwest of the shaft where the vein runs in width from three to five feet with the ore running from $20.00 to $30.00 to the ton. The commencement of work by this company, which owns more good acreage than any other company in the district, may mean the resumption of work on other of their properties a little later.

Another lucky strike is reported to have been made by the lessee on the Compromise-Trachyte claims. In the bottom of an old shaft he found a stringer which he followed for about 25 feet.
This widened into a vein 12 feet in width, and assays indicate that this will give values of $80 per ton in gold.

The Practical Gold Mining Company, operating a lease on the Trachyte, has about 1200 tons of ore broken awaiting hoisting.

The Trachyte, of the United Mines Company, produces ore of two ounces gold per ton. This mine, together with the Wild Horse, Deadwood and Trail mines, makes the company daily produce about 135 tons of ore.

Mr. Selbach will soon have an electric hoist in position on the Trachyte. At present he is only working in the upper shaft.

Cummins and associates on the Trachyte have not yet found the values that were lost in their blanket vein as it neared a phonolite dyke that seemed to have scattered the values out of the vein.
Drifting is still in progress and expectations are that as the vein leaves this same dyke pay ore will again be found.
Several tons of ore that was mined from the vein when ore was first struck is ready to be marketed.

The first shipment from the Cummins lease on the Trachyte was settled for on a basis of $18 to the ton.
