Info Title:
Arequa Mill Closes, Ore Sent to Union Mill
The plant of the Colorado Ore Reduction Company is shortly to close, in fact, almost all the ore formerly treated at the mill has been diverted to the new Union mill at Florence. The people owning the Union mill at Florence are practically those that own the Colorado plant down at Arequa, but rates are so excessively high here and the advantages so great in the valley that another plant was built down there and within a short time their local mill will be closed for good.
graphic for visual presentation of text The passing of the local mills has been on for some time, and those acquainted with the condition of affairs knew that it would be but a short time that a custom mill could exist here in the district and make expenses, let alone pay a dividend on the money invested in the works.

Info Title:
Elkton Dump Lease
The Elkton company has granted a lease on the Elkton dump to Lyon & Strickland of Cripple Creek. The lessees are required to remove all the waste rock from the territory of the Elkton company.
graphic for visual presentation of text The lessees are making arrangements with the Florence & Cripple Creek Railroad Company to build a spur so they can handle the waste as well as the ore. Many times in the past, mining men have tried to secure a lease on this dump, but all were unsuccessful.
graphic for visual presentation of text It is understood the lessees will also lease the Arequa mill, which is now idle and treat the best of the dump. It is a very short haul from the dump to this plant. It is thought the dump must contain considerable good ore, as otherwise the lessees would not agree to haul the great amount of waste.

Arequa Mill to Be First in Colorado to Run on Electricity
AN ELECTRIC PLANT.
graphic for visual presentation of text---------
graphic for visual presentation of textArequa Mill to Make a Complete Change in Its Power.
graphic for visual presentation of text
graphic for visual presentation of text Within sixty days the Arequa mill will be the first in the state to adopt electric power to drive its machinery. The contracts have been let for three motors, of 100, 50 and 40 horse power. It is the first time that electricity will have been adapted to the treatment of ore in Colorado, and it will therefore be watched with considerable interest by all.
graphic for visual presentation of text
graphic for visual presentation of text This does not mean that the steam plant will be dismantled, for it will be held in reserve, to be used in the event of an accident, and thus the mill will have two kinds of power and will be splendidly equipped in every respect with its dual power driving plants.
