British American Mining Co. Let Oscar Anderson Sink Dante Shaft
A contract has been let to Oscar Anderson to sink the new Dante shaft on Bull hill from the present depth of 120 ft. to the point where it will connect with the workings above the Trail tunnel, a distance of 150 ft. The British American Mining Co. has this property under lease and is sinking the shaft so as to facilitate the handling of a large production. The production at the present time is limited, owing to the long tram through the Trail tunnel, a distance of 3,000 ft.
The contractor is to receive $8 per foot and put in all timbers, but the latter, as well as all supplies, will be furnished by the company, which will also do the hoisting. It is estimated that there are about 5,000 tons of ore already broken in the stopes, but only occasional shipments are being made pending the completion of the shaft.

British American Mining Co. Ltd. Dividend & Workings
Cripple Creek, Colorado.
British- American Dividend.
At a meeting of the British American Mining Co. Ltd. on the 12th inst. a dividend amounting to $4,000 was declared. This is a close corporation operating the South Dante on Bull hill. The foregoing amount brings the total profits, divided between the partners, to $12,000.
The sinking of the new shaft to connect with the workings above the Trail tunnel is progressing rapidly, the shaft now being down 25 ft. Good-looking veinstuff has been encountered in the sinking, but not of sufficient value to be worth saving.

British-American Mining Co., Ltd. Ships From South Dante
Cripple Creek, Colorado.
British-American Co.
The British-American Mining Co., Ltd., that is, Becker, Travell & Co., operating the South Dante, shipped on an average a car of ore per day during the month of February. The bulk ore has been running in the neighborhood of $20, and the screening $30 per ton, but much better returns are expected during the present month, as some high-grade ore has been encountered during the last few days, which should make the screening run several ounces in gold.
Samples from this new strike show rusty gold in several places, and assay many hundred dollars per ton.

Dante Gold Mining Company
Good Prospective Mining Territory Controlled by The Reed Investment Co. of Colorado Springs
THE DANTE GOLD MINING COMPANY.
In the early part of the year 1901 The Reed Investment Company, of which Mr. Verner Z. Reed is president and O. H. Shoup secretary, adopted a policy of working the properties which they controlled by the leasing system.
They were among the first to inaugurate a longer time lease with a lower royalty, so that on all the properties which they control, there has been active development work carried on during the past year by lessees.
The Dante Gold Mining company own the Dante claim on Bull hill, which is surrounded by such well known mines as the Blue Bird, John A. Logan, Orphia May, Lucky Guss and others. During the past year there has been an average of over ten men a day at work upon the property. The production last year, however, was not as large as it was during the years just previous.
The main shaft is 450 feet in depth and the property is fully equipped with shaft house and machinery. The principal lessees of the property have tried to arrange with the owners of adjoining properties to drift from the bottom of one of the deep shafts into the Dante claim, at 1,000 feet in depth. So far the arrangement has not been made.
