MANITOU (View No. 2),

Is located right at the foot of the Peak, altitude 6,442 feet, famous for its numerous springs of health-giving waters, and as a playground for thousands of summer tourists.

From Manitou the line turns north, passing along the east side of the famous Peak, ascending a grade of 4%, or 211 feet in each mile.

Here are eight tunnels in less than four miles, cut out of almost solid granite. These tunnels range from a few feet to more than half a mile in length, the entire length of the eight tunnels being 3.7 miles.
