UTE PASS (View No. 3),

Here are eight tunnels in less than four miles, cut out of almost solid granite. These tunnels range from a few feet to more than half a mile in length, the entire length of the eight tunnels being 3.7 miles.

Passing through the tunnels the line follows the pass famed as the trail used by the Ute tribe of Indians in their marches to Manitou, to partake of the great healing waters.

The pass is also noted as the route of Mormon pioneers in their early-day pilgrimage to the "New Zion," Salt Lake City.
