Sixteen and one-half miles from Colorado Spring, altitude, 9,000 feet. The rock formations at this point are curious and attractive. The train is headed west.

After winding around the mountain it emerges from a tunnel on the second elevation and will be headed directly east, on a parallel track, 50 feet above the lower elevation, emphasizing the intricate engineering features of the road
