EASTERN PEOPLE AFTER IT

THEY HAVE BEEN WORKING AWAY QUIETLY FOR SOME TIME AND UNDOUBTEDLY THINK THEY HAVE A FORTUNE.

The Nickle Plate company, some of the stockholders in which are said to be large owners in the Standard Oil trust, have been spending considerable money of late in some ground to which they have title that lies in the saddle between Copper and Rhyolite mountains.
What is known as shaft No. 4 is down 160 feet and sinking is still in progress. The hole is going down on an enormous vein, but so far as can be learned no assay better than $3.80 in gold has ever been had on the rock. It has just leaked out that it is not gold the company is after, but that what they want is aluminum.
From a source that should be authentic the writer learns that an analysis of the vein matter runs as high as 80 per cent aluminum. At the present market price of this metal in New York a ton of it would contain $152 worth of aluminum.
What the cost for treating it would be is not known, but it would undoubtedly leave a handsome profit.
It is possible the camp is on the eve of opening a new industry. Copper mountain was so named because all the rock on it had a green tinge and was supposed to be coper stained. Now it is said by experts that it is impossible to find a trace of copper in the rock and the color is due solely to the aluminum it carries.
