The Rocky Mountain of Beacon has Been Equipped With a Fine Plant of Machinery.

Manager W.P.K. Hedrick of the Rocky Mountain on Beacon hill has a right to be proud of his record on that property. He took charge a few months ago, when there was nothing in sight, and the old shaft house was about to fall to pieces.
Since then there has been a transformation. The manager first went in search of ore, and it took him only a short time to find the chute that was lost years ago, then he kept following the vein down to be sure that he had made no mistake, and as the fissure was three feet wide, with from 18 to 24 inches of pay, he concluded it was high time to put in a plant of machinery and go after the little bonanza that seems to be in sight. A 22-horse power Fairbanks and Morse gasoline engine was purchased, is now in place and doing excellent work.
The shaft house has been put in apple pie order, a blacksmith shop built and next week work will start on a commodious ore house that will be an addition to the shaft house.

Underground the mine is looking well. The shaft is now 115 feet and with 15 feet more of sinking a level will be started. The shaft is following the vein, and it is thought the ore will mill a little better than 3 ounces.
All properties on the west slope of Beacon hill are looking well, but when this is mentioned, the Rocky Mountain must not be forgotten, as it undoubtedly carries the extension of the strongest and richest vein on the hill—the famous Fannie B.-Orizaba.

The Eastern Leasing Syndicate, operating on the Rocky Mountain estate on Beacon hill, is reported to be developing another rich producer for that section of the camp. The management is putting the shaft down rapidly and some high assays are reported from the vein which has been exposed in the lower workings.

Geo. H. Howland reports a good strike in his lease on the Rocky Mountain property owned by the Cons. G. M. Co., at a depth of 250 ft.

Denver—An important discovery on the George Howland & Son's lease on the Rocky mountain claim on Beacon hill, of the southern extension of the El Paso vein system, has just been made. Two feet of average grade ore is now exposed.
Negotiations are under way for the purchase of the lease by eastern people.

Cripple Creek—George Howland and son, leasing on the Rocky Mountain claim of the Beacon Cons. Mining Co., have opened up ore of high value at a depth of 20 ft., and also at the 150 level of the main shaft. At present they are hoisting from the surface workings by a windlass, but when the returns from a few shipments now on hand are received they will install machinery.

Cripple Creek—George H. Howland & Son will install machinery at the Rocky mountain claim of the Beacon Cons., to replace the windlass now used.

The initial shipment of 52 tons of ore from the Howland & Son lease on the Rocky Mountain of the Beacon Consolidated Gold Mining company, was loaded last week.
The ore is estimated at $2,000.

The Rocky Mountain claim of the Beacon Con. M. Co. is showing two distinct veins of ore, which are being worked by separate shafts. Both veins are good grade and machinery has been purchased for thorough development.

The properties of the Republic Gold Mining Company—the Janet W., Lester W., and Laura M. lodes—and the Beacon Consolidated Mining Company—the Rocky Mountain and North Slope lodes—where prospectors are now at work, get encouragement from important discovery at south end of the El Paso Co.'s Little May claim where lessees drifting south on the Little May vein, have opened up an ore body, characteristic of Beacon Hill, in that the quartz is enriched with large crystals of calaverite and high values have been shown by the assay tests.

Beacon Hill Consolidated—The Rocky Mountain mine of this company, being worked under lease, has reentered the list of shippers, the ore coming from a 5-ft. vein and yielding about $17 per ton.

The North Slope and Rocky Mountain claims, on Beacon hill, owned by the Beacon Consolidated Mines Co., will be offered at sheriff's sale at the court house April 28.
