A few months ago, James J. Cone, one of the pioneer mining men of the Cripple Creek district and since many years a resident of Canon City, Colo., had an attack of stroke of apoplexy, just after a fall of 20 ft. in the Ophir mine at Cripple Creek, in which he was interested.
