Info Title:
Christmas Looks to Become Great Bonanza
Reports from the Christmas show that the little mine on the southeast slope of Bull hill is fast developing into one of the great bonanzas of the camp. In the shaft, which has been run thirty-five feet on{?] the 175 foot level, a body of sylvanite ore has been opened running from two and a half to forty ounces. The vein is eight feet wide and the ore chute is continuous. Everything taken from the mine has been shipped since the shaft reached the depth of seventy-five feet.

Christmas Sinking On
CHRISTMAS PROSPECTS

graphic for visual presentation of text—————————
graphic for visual presentation of textTHREE-FOOT BODY OF ORE IN THE LOWER LEVEL
graphic for visual presentation of text—————————
graphic for visual presentation of text The Christmas mine, on Bull hill, is steadily forging ahead for honors, and as depth is acquired the chances are more favorable for the property to become a formidable rival of its rich neighbors, the La Bella, the Vindicator and the Lillie.
graphic for visual presentation of text Sinking has been under way for many weeks, and as new levels have been extended to the ore bodies the chutes are found to be increasing in values with depth, and several new ore deposits have been touched in the lower workings which were not previously known to exist.
graphic for visual presentation of text Judging from the experience of neighboring properties, the Christmas has its greatest days still before it, and they will probably be realized when a depth of 500 feet has been attained.
graphic for visual presentation of text The shaft is already over 300 feet deep, and indications are favorable for the realization of the above predictions. In drifting at that depth a vein of ore three feet in width was cut, which yielded values of from $60 to $80 per ton.
graphic for visual presentation of text Only a small amount of development work has yet been done, but it has proven the strike both rich and permanent. Good shipments are being made from the upper workings, and Potvin and Vaine, leasing one of the blocks, are maintaining a steady production.

PAINFULLY HURT - B. Ross, the assayer, was quite painfully injured on the Christmas mine last Tuesday. He was descending a shaft on the ladder-way, when he slipped and fell quite a distance.
graphic for visual presentation of text Nothing serious will result, however, Mr. Ross considers himself lucky owing to the fact that he had just a few days previous taken out an accident insurance policy.

Info Title:
Christmas Lease Rumors
Cripple Creek.—(Special.)—It is said around the streets of Goldfield that at the end of this month Potvin & Vaine, who have been operating the Christmas mine for some time, will suspend operations. The rumor is abroad that the company is negotiating with the fortunate lessees for the purchase of the lease, and that if they are successful will operate the mine on company account.
graphic for visual presentation of text There is no reason for them to suspend operations unless there is a sale of the lease on, for there is plenty of good ore in the property, as the shipments testify to, and the present physical condition appears. It will be remembered that at the annual meeting of the stockholders held in the city of Victor some months ago an offer of 35 cents a share was made for a control of the property. At that rate a valuation of $435,000 was being placed on it.
