Info Title:
Anaconda Cyanide Mill Construction Work Begun (1)
The construction work on the large cyanide mill to be erected on the Anaconda's property was begun last week. The mill is being erected for the purpose of treating all the Anaconda dumps which contain in the neighborhood of 100,000 tons of rock.
graphic for visual presentation of text The company is not going into the matter blindly by any means, as they have taken hundreds of samples from different portions of the dumps, from which they have received an average of a little over $9.00 a ton. It is also being tested as to the treating by cyanide, and has proved very susceptible.
graphic for visual presentation of text The new mill men are not only going to work the dumps of this company, but they also expect to run through the wash, which varies from two to eight feet in thickness, that practically covers the Anaconda territory. It is also the intention of the company to work the main vein to a distance of over 1,000 feet; this development will also give the mill men a considerable tonnage to be treated.

Info Title:
King & Craig's Anaconda Mill Description
At the present writing King and Craig of Cripple Creek have a mill in course of construction at Anaconda and expect to begin treating ore by September 1st. This mill has 6 tanks of 150 tons capacity and the fineness of crushing is 6 mesh.
graphic for visual presentation of text Dry crushing is practiced and is undoubtedly preferable where the product required is coarse and no separation of sands and slimes is necessary for treatment. If it be true that ore below $2,00 per ton can be treated at a profit by the cyanide process, it would certainly seem that the method has a bright future on the low-grade surface ores of the district.
graphic for visual presentation of text The King & Craig Company have an immense amount of surface ore in sight which is said to have given an average value on several hundred assays of about $9 per ton. With proper facilities for handling and crushing there seems no reason why the ore should not be treated at less than $2 per ton. Laboratory tests on the ore give an extraction of 98%, a result which can scarcely be hoped to be attained in actual practice.
graphic for visual presentation of text The method of precipitation is the ordinary one by means of zinc shavings, and no particular difficulty in this direction seems to have been encountered.

Info Title:
Anaconda Mill, or King & Craig Mill, a Year's Progress in Cyaniding
Since the last report of the condition of cyaniding in the Cripple Creek district given in Mining Reporter (September 1, 1904), many changes have taken place as regards the mills in active operation, but comparatively little in the general milling practice. The year has been marked by exceptional activity in mill construction but closes with but a slight increase of tonnage over that reported a year ago. Only two mills, the Homestake and the R. E. A. and A., were then running with an approximate capacity of 300 tons per day. Four mills are now in active operation, but the aggregate tonnage does not exceed 375 tons per day.
graphic for visual presentation of text The mill of King and Craig, above the town of Anaconda, did not commence milling ore until near the middle of the winter, but has since been in steady operation, apparently with good success. All the ore treated at present is taken from near the surface.
graphic for visual presentation of text The King & Craig mill has a 150 tons Capacity with 6 Tanks being of varying size each and Approximate capacity of 100 tons. The Crushing mesh is 5. Value of ore treated is $6.00, and the Tailings assay are 0.40. Length of treatment are 72 hours, with a Cost of mining and milling of $0.75.
graphic for visual presentation of text As a rule the nature of the ore in the district does not admit of cyanidation without roasting, to any great depth, but an area including portions of Bull, Ironclad and Globe hills seems to be an exception to the general rule.
