Info Title:
Grouse Mountain Gold Mining and Tunnel Co. Tunnel
The tunnel of the Grouse Mountain Gold Mining and Tunnel company has penetrated into the hill about 150 feet and it is expected in 50 feet more to cut a vein at a vertical depth of 200 feet.
graphic for visual presentation of text The vein appears well defined on the surface and when it is reached in the tunnel shipping ore is looked for.
graphic for visual presentation of text The main object of the tunnel, however, is to reach the great phonolite dyke which crosses the mountain northeast and southwest, and it is thought the tunnel will do this at a distance of 2,000 feet from the entrance and at a depth of 1,000 feet.
graphic for visual presentation of text The tunnel is located on Cripple Creek, about 1,000 feet below the Gold and Globe mill, and has ample power at all seasons of the year to turn a turbine wheel of sufficient strength to run a drill compressor, which has already been ordered.
