Burns & Morning Star With Good Indications of Mineral
A two days' jaunt on horseback took me from Rhyolite hill, on the north, to Grouse mountain, on the south, and from Pisgah, on the west, to Wilson creek, on the east, within which boundaries some four thousand claims have been located.
graphic for visual presentation of text The greater part of those have nothing more than the assessment work done upon them, and in many instances, this has been so indifferently done, and with such an utter abandon and disregard of the statues, that they cannot be held for a moment to comply with the legal requirements.
graphic for visual presentation of text But, in traversing Ennis, Globe, Gold, Bull, Tenderfoot, Womack, Mineral and a score or more of hills in the district, sources of Cripple, Wilson, Requa, Squaw and other water courses, I came upon scores of properties that were being developed with more or less vigor and intelligence, some with tunnels or inclines, others with shafts or open cuts, and the owners of each full of hope and expectations.
graphic for visual presentation of text Among those having already good indications of mineral are the Burns and Morning Star lode claims on Bull Mountain.

Burns To Be Turned Back to Company to Operate
Recent developments in the Pharmacist mine indicate that the chute from which so much ore has been extracted is dipping diagonally into the Burns lode, and will be encountered at a depth of about 100 ft. in that mine.
graphic for visual presentation of text A level from the Burns working shaft is being driven to intercept this channel of ore at a depth of about 135 ft., and within a few days it will be reached.
graphic for visual presentation of text After April 1st the lease and bond now held by W. B. Brooks, A. D. Jones and others will be surrendered to the Calumet Mining Company in exchange for 600,000 shares of stock, and the mine will therefore be operated by that company, its sole owner.

Pharmacist, Tenolra and Burns Ore-Shoot Description
The veins of the Pharmacist and Tenolra and Burns are connected by drifts. The two pockets which in 1892 paid $84,000 dividends in a few months were V-like in shape and near the surface the V's were pretty close together, at 250 feet the ore ceased, the arms of the V came to a point. A new ore-shoot has since been found at 250 feet, the pockets two to five feet wide. Shaft was sunk 590 feet when the top of another pocket or ore-shoot was found, eighty feet in length and sixty feet deep and still continuing at 650 feet.

graphic for visual presentation of text Harry Curll, leasing on the Burns of the Acacia company, yesterday sent to market 10 tons of ore. Half of the shipment, it is thought, will run from $600 to $700 to the ton, and the remainder about $800 per ton.

Emma No. 2 Lessees Give Hope To Burns Leasee
Some lessees on the Emma No. 2 have done a good thing for Lessee Wrockliff on the Burns, or at least that is what it looks like just now.
graphic for visual presentation of text It appears that the Emma No. 2 boys have been following a small vein of good ore at 40 feet until suddenly they realized that they were close on if not quite at the end of their ground.
graphic for visual presentation of text Where they have been digging they have failed to get a big body, but the fairly-sized ore vein they have been working on runs from 9 to 14 ounces to the ton.
graphic for visual presentation of text Wrockliff, on the Burns, has started a crosscut for it at the 200-foot level, and expects to find the vein within a few feet.

graphic for visual presentation of text
graphic for visual presentation of text Ans.: The Acacia Gold Mining Company, capitalized at 1,500,000 shares of $1 each, owns over 20 acres of patented ground on Bull Hill, from which ore is being shipped. Stock quoted on January 19 at about 42 cents.
graphic for visual presentation of text It is regarded in Colorado as meritorious stocks, and is being purchased at current prices by local parties personally familiar with the Cripple Creek district. With the expected advance along the whole line of Cripple Creek stocks following any calming down of financial disturbance at the eastern and European money centres, the stocks will advance also, irrespective of any special impetus from the discovery of new rich ore bodies.

New Ore-shoot in Burns Shaft
