May Queen Lessees Working Narrow Vein
NARROW VEIN

—————————

Crow and Chambers Lease Working a Four-Inch Streak.

The old Crow and Chambers lease on the May Queen on Womack hill is making a small but steady production from a four-inch streak which is being drifted on at the 40-foot level. The last carload sent out returned $92 per ton.

The ore is a talcy gouge, easily worked. The only drawback is that the streak is so narrow.

WORKING THE DUMP

—————————

Former Lessee Took $15,000 and Left Some Behind.

Darnell's lease on the old May Queen is making some money for its owner. He is working over the old dump at the shaft from which Griswold shipped $15,000 some three years ago.

Darnell is saving up the screenings, and his last shipment returned him $48 per ton. The gold comes from the talc and gouge mixed with the rock on the dump.

Cripple Creek Consolidated Mining Co. Sold Claims & Pays Dividend
Cripple Creek Consolidated Mining Company.—This company has sold the Geneva and May Queen lodes, the former on Gold Hill and the latter crossing Poverty Gulch and Womac Hill. The purchaser is not known. The price was $300,000, which gave the treasury a considerable sum and the directors have declared an 8c. dividend, amounting to $160,000. This leaves $40,000 in the treasury, and it is understood that work on the property is to be pushed.

The Geneva claim has produced a large amount of ore and the May Queen some.

New Machinery Plants Being Installed at Abe Lincoln & May Queen
Mr. W. S. Stratton was in camp a few days ago looking over his interests. A large amount of work has been outlined. Plants of new machinery are being installed on the Abe Lincoln and May Queen in Poverty Gulch. Work on these properties ceased some time ago on account of a flow of water.

Since then, the mines have been drained by the Standard and Ophelia Tunnels, so that difficulty is not likely to be encountered again.
