Description/Note: This company is the outcome of the protracted litigation resulting in the consolidation of the Independence T. & M. Co. and Wilson Creek Cons. G. M. Co. Since the consolidation the company has located a number of lode claims covering the territory of the Hull City Placer, done for the purpose of protecting the property against the possible cancellation of the placer patent. See Plat K.
Owns: 1. the Hull City Placer and Reindeer lode, 42 acres, on south slope of Bull Hill, in S. E. ¼ Sec. 20, formerly the property of the Independence Town & M. Co.;
2. also a small part of the Minnie Belle in same location, formerly the property of the Wilson Creek Cons. G. M. Co.
4718. (Schenectady, N. Y.) Please inform me regarding what you think of the Independence gold mines as an investment? What gold mine stock do you consider the best for an investment? What is a good low priced stock for a speculation?
Ans.: The Independence Town & Mining Company is capitalized at 1,250,000 $1 shares, and owns 42 acres of patented ground, which has produced upwards of $750,000 under leasing system, the company having received upwards of $110,000 in royalties. The company is the defendant in somewhat rancorous litigation, one of the suits being now in the course of hearing in court. On January 18 the stock sold at 33c. But for such migration the stock would readily sell for upwards of $1, as it is an exceptionally rich and well equipped property.
It would be invidious to single out one particular gold stock as the best for an investment, but, among others, may be mentioned Elkton, Isabella, Portland, Vindicator, Gold Coin, etc. The same remark applies as to a good low-priced stock for a speculation, as there are a number of about equal merit, on the best selection from which probably no two equally well informed persons would exactly agree.
